Cross word is configurable: verbs, adjectives, adverbs and nouns may be switch off or on. Default play is with verbs and adjectives active. With Nouns active the game behaves more like a general knowledge quiz with specialist questions thrown in.

Cross Word uses a session cookie to retain the configuration data during play.

The game works in default mode, verbs and adjectives, if cookies are disabled.
